Miena Village Guiding operates from Miena Village, the home of the Great Lake Hotel. We are a destination location on the Central Highlands for those wishing to fish Tasmania’s iconic lakes and streams, whether it be pulling streamers in September and October, rising early to tailing trout in the spring month of November, sight casting to lazy browns feeding on mayflies in December and January, or fishing crystal clear streams for our wily browns.

Our world-class guides have been hand-picked to provide you with the experience of a lifetime. Our introduction starts with g’day at the airport, then traveling to your accommodation at 3000 feet above sea level with a population of just over 100 within a 100 square-mile radius. Tasmanian wildlife abounds with wallabies, wombats, and Tasmanian devils eating on the lawns in front of the hotel; and, whilst fishing, we see the playful platypus, wedgetail eagles, and sea eagles in the area. Our endemic cider gum is never far away, and Miena Guiding Tasmania participates in several environmental programs to protect this rare fauna.
